Built on the foundation of our game-changing Maverick X, the X2 features all the cutting-edge tech of its predecessor with a few key updates:

HOW IT WORKS
The re-engineered core design works just like a stiff bike: converting watts straight into speed. And just like cycling engineers keep pushing carbon layups to make stiffer and stiffer race frames, we zoomed in on that core, believing it had the power to unlock even more hidden potential for every level of swimmer.

We used seven different liners to create a revolutionary core exoskeleton; most suits use only one or two. And we invented an entirely new taping technique—only found on the X2—to connect your hips and shoulders. This pioneering mix of design and materials, stiffened up the suit while retaining its natural feel and patented ARMS-UP design.

The result? Maximized power transfer from hips to shoulders and even better stability in the water, with no restrictive, claustrophobic feeling. In other words: You’ll go faster, longer, for the same effort. All in total, luxurious comfort. It’s true: You can improve your swim with the click of a button. (But please keep training!)

We focused on the lateral edges around the core from the front around to the lower back, because the lower back is key in maintaining stability while swimming. The resulting breakthrough stiffens the core exoskeleton—we’ll call it our XOskeleton™—without restricting breathing. And when you use your entire core—not just hip flexors and abs—for propulsion and to support body position, your stroke feels easier and more effective. Our new design keeps the belly free, while supporting the core, and connecting the upper and lower body for an all-around boost in efficiency.

How do you stiffen a wetsuit so it feels truly superhuman—snappier, faster, more streamlined than you are naked—while also feeling, um, naked? With seven different liners, each chosen for its specific stretch profile and placed into the perfect position to deliver on its capabilities. The magic happens when the pattern and liners come together perfectly. That’s what made our patented ARMS-UP technology so revolutionary (we patterned the suit with the arms up—the position you’re in the most while swimming), and the same principle applies to our XOskeleton™. Hands up if you thought those liners were there just for the buttery smooth feel! Now you know. 
7% More Buoyant
We strategically added buoyancy in the legs, core and hips, which gives the X2 a 7% increase in lift over its predecessor. The buoyancy profile remains the same: limited buoyancy in the arms and chest (you have lungs for that) and more buoyancy precisely where you need it (your lower body). The X2 paneling also prevents sinky legs and puts you in a perfect horizontal swimming position.
ZERO SHOULDER RESTRICTION
By patterning the wetsuit with the arms above the head rather than at the side, mobility is increased through every phase of your stroke. Our patented design eliminates shoulder restriction to help you swim faster with less fatigue. The difference is striking.
More Natural Rotation
The patented technology that first catapulted ROKA wetsuits ahead of the field: more buoyancy down the centerline of your body; less buoyancy on the perimeter. It allows you to have a snappier side-to-side rotation and eliminates dead spots in the freestyle. The RSX construction in the Maverick X gives the smoothest, most natural rotation of any Maverick wetsuit.
Neck comfort
Our neck panel eliminates seams to help the neckline of the suit move with you, improving comfort and reducing chafing.
Speed and durability
SCS (Super Composite Skin) Hydrophobic Nano Coating reduces surface drag for more speed, and also improves durability.
Premium materials
We use only the very best neoprene in the world from the Yamamoto Corporation, located in Japan.  Yamamoto neoprene is limestone-based and has a different cell structure than the more commonly used petroleum-based neoprenes. It is stretchier, returns to form better, and offers an excellent insulation-to-weight ratio. Yamamoto makes variable performance neoprene grades, and we strategically use several different ones (for different reasons) in varying thicknesses in our suits. The result is optimized speed, core-temperature control and comfort.
Feel the water
The Maverick X utilizes a premium stretch-woven textile from Italy developed for the super-suit era in swimming. The woven textile provides more strength and natural compression than a traditional knit fabric, resulting in greater durability and speed. The purpose of the textile forearm is to maximize proprioception — or feel — in the water.  Swimming fast is all about feel for the water.  Experienced swimmers find the strategically placed textile provides a better “feel” for the water than plain or coated neoprene.
Ankle panels
The rear ankle panels of our suits use a 2mm panel at the base of the leg to help you kick your heel out of the suit in T1.  You might not notice a difference in a changing room with a dry suit, but when you are at speed in T1, your suit will fly off with the right technique and practice. Our ankle panels are heat-taped for extra durability and to allow you to cleanly shorten the leg, if customization is needed.

FIT TIPS

  • Neoprene wetsuits will be slightly looser in the water. Even if your suit feels tight on land, it may feel right in the water.
  • Neoprene can stretch a little bit more when warmed up.
  • If you fit more than one size, sizing down will give you a tight fit and you should expect to take 10-12 minutes to put the suit on properly.
  • The suit should feel tight, but if it constricts your breathing or restricts shoulder movement in the water, then you need to size up.
  • Expect to have someone help you zip the suit up. Needing help with the zipper is a sign of a performance fit.
  • Use the pads of your fingers to avoid fingernail tears.

"Great wetsuit and much better should mobility than the Sailfish. The fit in the core is perfect as no extra water coming into the midsection. The legs are also great for quick transitions which was a pleasant surprise at my race a few days ago. Only downside on the open box were a few small snags that needed to be repaired. I thought this would have been done by Roka, but I used Aquaseal and made the repairs"

"I just got the Maverick X. 3 and it is awesome! The buoyancy is great, like swimming with pull buoys. I track all of my workouts, and from my initial test swim today, my interval times were a good 15% faster. With the full suit, I don't have any restriction in arm movement. As far as the size, I am 5'10", 155 lbs. I got a Medium and it fits great, true to size. I have had other brands of open water wetsuits in the past, and the Roka Maverick X. 3 is by far the best I have owned."
